Springstowne's 17th Straight
On May 4, 2016 our Wildcat rattled off 22 City Championships out of the 25 weight classes to win their 17th consecutive Vallejo City Championship title!
Gerell Castro led the Wildcat boys by winning his 3rd straight Vallejo City title, while Mililani Rose Jimenez-Diolanto matched the same feat for the Lady Wildcats. The dynamic duo's accomplishment is a rare achievement considering the program's history.
Also winning City Championships in boys weight classes were Joshua Bucad, Esai Contreras, Anthony Bonifacio, Mikey Reagan, Marc Deguzman, CJ Carino, Jayden Smith, Stefan Foley Jr. and Rafael Ely.
The Lady Wildcats followed Jimenez-Diolanto's pace and swept all girls weight classes. The big winners were Deja Hizon, Trinity~Jade Castillo-Holloway, Angela Abuda, Rylee Cruz Smith, Meriel Ferrer, Brianna Todaro, Sarah Dilag, Gabby Lozano, Angelene Lacsa, Eryka Ferrer and Lyric Aguigui who all struck gold!!!

Top Wildcats Rise Up At The Academy Championships
Scoring "Golden Paws" at the Springstowne Academy Championships in the boys division were Jayden Smith, Marc Deguzman, Jaelen Manuel, Mikey Reagan, Anthony Bonifacio, Reggie Watts, Jacob Meneses, Fabian Ruiz, Esai Contreras, Gerell Castro, Daniel Solar, Rafael Ely, Arnold San Pedro and Nicolai de los Reyes. In the girls division Angellina Querol, Briana Todaro, Simran Kumar, Meriel Ferrer, Rylee Cruz Smith, Mililani Rose Jimenez-Diolanto, Lyric Aguigui, Angelene Lacsa, Gabriella Lozano, Leyana Sunga, Trinity~Jade Castillo-Holloway, Trinh Tran and Deja Hizon were the "Golden Paw" winners.

Wildcat Wrestlers Multi-Task At Spring Challenge
The 2nd Annual Spring Challenge vs the White Hill Wildcats from Marin was a successful venture as many of our veterans took to refereeing and scorekeeping while the rest of our squad took to the mats to wrestle. Of note Arnold San Pedro had a strong showing for the Wildcat boys with 2 wins by pinfall, while Lady Wildcats Eryka Ferrer and Isabella Mendoza had 1st round pins in girls action. |
Loads Of Gold Brought Home To Vallejo
On April 16, 2016 nine Springstowne Academy Wrestlers placed 1st at the 19th Annual USGWA/USBWA National Championships in American Canyon. In the Middle School Girls Class Rylee Cruz Smith, Meriel Ferrer and Tram Tran were the top finishers in their weight division. In the Boy Middle School Class Gerell Castro, Nico De los Reyes, Ranz Gimena, Jacob Meneses, Matthew Peterson and Jayden Smith rose above the rest to win Gold!

Academy Wrestlers Sweep Ben and Jerry's Classic
The Springstowne Wildcats scored both the boys and girls divisions 1st place team trophies at the 10th Annual Ben and Jerry's Classic in Napa on April 8, 2016.
In the boys class we had six 1st place finishes in the thirteen weight classes as Gerell Castro, Jacob Meneses, Anthony Bonifacio, Marc Deguzman and CJ Carino gave gold medal performances. Newcomer Reggie Watts also went undefeated in exhibition action.
For the Lady Wildcats ten girls placed 1st out of the eleven weight classes. The top medal winners in each class were Trinh Tran, Eryka Ferrer, Trinity~Jade Castillo-Holloway, Fatima Maloa, Angela Abuda, Neylan Green, Lyric Aguigui, Rylee Cruz Smith, Meriel Ferrer and Brianna Todaro.

Six Lady Wildcats Battle Among Cali's Best
On April 2, 2016 our Lady Wildcats traveled to Albany for the 12th Annual California Girls Middle School State Championships where they placed 4th out of the 60 team field.
Winning state medals were Meriel Ferrer(2nd), Denise Feria(4th), Sarah Dilag(5th), Angellina Querol(5th), Trinity~Jade Castillo-Holloway(6th) and Simran Kumar(6th).

The 7th Annual event was kicked off by Academy Wrestlers/HPE members Jet Cortez, Ranz Gimena, Fatima Maloa, Jaelen Manuel, Mililani Jimenez-Diolanto, Trinh Tran and Tram Tran with a performance of
"The Star Spangled Banner."
On the wrestling side the Widcats managed twenty-two 1st places finishers at the goodwill event which raised $340 to support education at Hoang Van Thu School in Viet Nam. Lady Wildcats Wrestle With Northern California's Best
Thirty-Five Academy Wrestlers medalled at the 17th Annual USGWA Nor-Cals on March 6th in Vallejo. The field of competitors included an array of talent from such cities as Modesto, Benicia, Oroville, Gilroy, Napa, Livermore, Turlock, Manteca and Walnut Creek. Rising to the occasion were Lady Wildcats Angela Abuda, Meriel Ferrer, Brianna Todaro and Gabby Lozano who each won gold in their weight divisions.

While our 8th grade veteran Wildcats had the day off of wrestling to referee and scorekeep. Our lesser experienced wrestlers took to the mat vs Bancroft-San Leandro and the Napa SAL.

North Coast Championships Complete
Three Wildcats boys tallied medals in the Varsity Boys Division led by Marc Deguzman and Gerell Castro who place in the top 3 to qualify for TOC. Deguzman placed 1st, while Castro finished 2nd. Esai Contreras and Stefan Foley Jr. chipped in 4th place medals.
In the Girls Division, the Lady Wildcats brought home seven medals. Trinity~Jade Castillo-Holloway, Rylee Cruz Smith, Meriel Ferrer and Brianna Todaro Ellsworth were the big winners scoring gold medals. Deja Hizon added a silver, while Angela Abuda and Simran Kumar each took home bronze medals.

Wildcats Score Well At Solano County Events
The Springstowne Lady Wildcats kicked off 2016 by winning their 8th consecutive Solano County Girls Team Championship behind the efforts of Gold Medalists Deja Hizon, Fatima Maloa, Gabby Lozano, Lyric Aguigui, Mililani Jimenez-Diolanto, Meriel Ferrer and Brianna Todaro-Ellsworth. Prior to the start of the event on January 10th we honored our 1st class of "Hall of Fame Team Moms."
Our Wildcat boys also had a fine showing at the Solano Clash in Vacaville on Jnauary 22nd as three Academy Wrestlers placed to earn a spot at the Northern California Tournament of Championships in March. Marc Deguzman scored a gold medal in the 185 pound class while Gerell Castro and Stefan Foley Jr. each won silver in the 100 and 116 pound classes respectively.

Scoring a plethora of 1st place points to lead the Wildcats were Gold Medalists Arnold San Pedro, Gerell Castro, Thomas Manibusan, Jacob Meneses, Leijan Viado, Anthony Bonifacio, Ranz Gimena, CJ Carino, Sarah Dilag, Trinh Tran, Eryka Ferrer, Millicent Bassi, Angela Abuda, Neylan Green, Gabby Lozano, Alexandra Arroyo, Rylee Cruz Smith, Isabella Mendoza, Meriel Ferrer and Angellina Querol.

Our HMS-Springstowne Wildcat Wrestling Academy scored it's 2nd consecutive North Bay Invitational Championship on 11-15-15, out pacing the 2nd place Napa Sheriff's .
The Wildcats won 11 of 13 classes in the Girls Division and 9 of 14 in the boys division. Academy Wrestlers Kickoff Season
On November 3rd, eighty-plus Wildcat Wrestlers showed tremendous passion at our Intra-Squad Kickoff Scrimmage. Top performances were turned in by Arnold San Pedro, who scored two wins in the boys division, and Rylee Cruz Smith who had the fastest pin on the day in the girls division. Cruz Smith managed an :18 second pin fall time!!!

1st Medals of the Season Earned at Alumni Clinic
Fifty-Six Wrestlers honed their skills at the 11th Annual Springstowne Wildcat Wrestlling Alumni Clinic on October 11th. Following the event medals were awarded to middle school mini-takedown tournament champions Meriel Ferrer, Neylan Green, Trinity~Jade Castillo-Holloway, Mililani Jimenez-Diolanto, Jacob Guiducci, CJ Carino, Marc Deguzman and Thomas Manibusan, as well as the elementary school "Future Wildcats" Jason Cardaso, Maikah Jimenez-Diolanto, Heena Bharti, Angelina Somera, Sophia Somera, Makaio Jimenez-Diolanto and Jayme Balandra, Brandon Guiducci and DJ Avelino.

10th Annual Festival Of Nations Kickoff Potluck
Our Wildcat families came together on September 4th to enjoy Vallejo's diverse cultural cuisine, as our 8th Grade veterans discovered where they would be traveling for their "Wildcat Nation Travel Trip." Our Wildcat boys will be competing in Alabama at the Madison Dogfight, while our Lady Wildcats will be competing at the Wrestle4Hope All-American Girls Wrestling Classic in Arkansas!!!
Springstowne Alum Excels
Ricki Liang(2009-2011) won the Vallejo Times-Herald's coveted "Athlete of the Year" award to culminate her State Championship season for Benicia High School.
Liang joins Alyssa Wong and Terry Allen as other Springstowne Wrestling alums to earn the award. Ricki will be wrestling collegiately for defending National Champion King University in Tennessee in 2015-2016. |
