Champions Of Vallejo
Our Wildcats finished the season by taking their 19th consecutive Vallejo City Championship. Our Academy wrestlers scored 9 golds in the boys division and 18 golds in the girls division.
Paving the way were Rafael Ely Jr., Eryka Ferrer and Lyric Aguigui who all won their 3rd straight Vallejo City Championships.
Other 8th graders placing 1st were Daniel Solar, Alexander Bonifacio, Thome Walters, Cesar Delgado, Ashton Balassu, Chelsea Javines, Jacqueline Tran, Cherie Luu, Alina Pham, Leyana Sunga, Kristen Deleon, Alyssa Huynh, Kaia Collier, Natalie Smith and Angela Elmore.
7th graders pitching in 1st place finishes Dylan Deleon, Davion Castro, DJ Avelino, Jacob Louie and Daisy Huerta, while 6th graders Lauren Deleon, Jaedyn Strebel, Emily Apilado, Ishra Ferrer and Kamarra Harris also added 1st place finishes.

Wildcats Ready To Lead After Academy Championships
On April 30th our Wildcat Wrestlers squared off in our Annual Academy Championships in preparation for the 23rd Annual Vallejo City Wrestling Championships.
Taking home "Golden Paws" in the boys division were Dylan Deleon, Nicolai Delos Reyes, Cyon Bais. Davion Castro, Alexander Bonifacio, Rafael Ely Jr., Robert Couvson, Dwayne Blackburn, Thome Walters, DJ Avelino, Kaden maifield, Cesar Delgado, Jacob Louie and Ashton Balassu.
In the girls division Jaedyn Strebel, Natalie Pique, Daisy Huerta, Eryka Ferrer, Jan Marcy Soy, Kamarra Harris, Alina Pham, Leyana Sunga Kristen Deleon, Esther Llorente, Isabel Alberto, Lyric Aguigui, Kaia Collier, Natalie SMith and Samantha Liu were winners of the "Golden Paws."

Our Springstowne Wildcat Wrestling Academy had a monster showing at the 21st USGWA/USBWA National Championships in Vallejo on April 14th 2018.
Both the Lady Wildcat and Wildcat Boys wrestling squads won the team championship banners in their respective USGWA and USBWA Middle School Divisions.
The Lady Wildcats blazed to their 2nd straight USGWA National Championship scoring 87 points to finish ahead of Creekside-Castro Valley(44), The Napa SAL-Napa(34) and the AGA Wolfpack of Reno-Nevada(10). They were paced by Eryka Ferrer, Cherie Luu, Alina Pham, Kaia Colier, Natalie Smith, Lauren Deleon and Jaedyn Strebel who all won Gold Medals in their weight classes.

Lady Wildcats Regain Their Swagger At State
After only scoring 7 points and placing a 3-way tie for 9th place in 2017 our Lady Wildcats battled back at the State Championships in San Rafael and finished 4th place out of 50 teams. The point margins were razor thin as we were only 1 point behind the 3rd place team Bancroft, 2 points behind the 2nd place team Creekside and 12 points behind the 3-Time Champion Louis Pasteur.
Leading the Springstowne charge were Eryka Ferrer and Natalie Smith who scored silver medals. Kaia Collier, Samantha Liu and Sara Armenta pitched in 4th place medals, while Lyric Aguigui and Jaedyn Strebel added 5th place medals. Dynamic Duo Compete in Historic Event
Ashton Balassu and Alexander Bonifacio represented our Springstowne WIldcat Wrestling Academy at the historic 50th Annual Northern California Tournament of Champions in Loomis.
9th Annual Hoang Van Thu Classic
Wrestling for a tremendous cause our Springsowne Wildcats, the Napa SAL and Bancroft Broncos wrestled fiercely while supporting education in
Viet Nam. In boys action the Wildcats managed 1st place finishes from Jhay Pedeglorio, Davion Castro, Rafael Ely, Alexander Bonifacio, Oai Huynh, Thome Walters and Kaden Maifield. On the girls side which featured a number of California state medalists our Lady Wildcats were able to score 1st place efforts from Jaedyn Strebel, Emily Apilado, Natalie Pique, Reigne Ramos, Eryka Ferrer, Kamarra Harris, Alina Pham, Leyana Sunga, Kristen Deleon, Esther Llorente, Alyssa Huynh, Ximena Flores, Natalie Smith and Samantha Liu. |
Lady Wildcats Show Vast Array Of Skills @ USGWA Nor-Cals
Forty-Two Lady Wildcats brought home Nor-Cal Medals at the 19th Annual USGWA Nor-Cals led by Nor-Cal Champions Emily Apilado, Luna Contreras, Eryka Ferrer, Alyssa Huynh, Crystal Fraire and Natalie Smith while our Lady Wildcats also held their Inaugural Springstowne Lady Wildcat Bake Sale and Bake-off.

In our Annual Scrimmage vs Bancroft of San Leandro and Robert Louis Stevenson of St. Helena and the Napa SAL our Academy Wrestlers performed strong.
Academy 8th Graders Score At North Coast In Windsor
Alex Bonifacio placed 3rd in the Varsity T.O.C. qualifier only losing to the eventual champion 8-7 in the 1st round, while 8 Lady Wildcats managed to bring home hardware in the Girls Division.
Leyana Sunga went 5-0 on the day to place 1st and was joined by Alina Pham and Angela Elmore who also won gold medals.
Rounding out the placers were Jen Pobre(2nd), Alyssa Huynh(2nd), Kaia Collier(2nd), Jan Marcy Soy(3rd) and Cherie Luu(4th)

A Pair Of Wildcats Win Gold At Solano County Clash
On January 19th, fresh off their North Carolina adventure, Ashton Balassu and Alexander Bonifacio went undefeated at the Solano County Clash at Jepson Middle School In Vacaville. Bonifacio scored two pins to make it to the finals where he pulled out a 10-8 overtime victory in a very exciting matchup, while Balassu scored a pin in the semi-finals before grinding out a 5-2 victory in the finals. The duo has qualified for the Northern California T.O.C. in March! |

Lady Wildcats Kickoff 2018 With Winning Effort
A quintet of Lady Wildcats won Gold Medals at the 10th Annual Solano County Girls Wrestling Championships in Vallejo on January 7, 2018.
Eryka Ferrer, Jaedyn Strebel, Natalie Smith, Crystal Fraire and Bianca Capati's 1st place finishes scored 50 of the Springstowne Wrestling Academy's 92 points to win the programs 10th straight Solano County Girls Crown over the Napa SAL(58 points), Davis Blue Devils(50 points), Vaca Pena(18 points), Jepson(15 points) and Harriet Eddy(10 points).

Wildcats Close Out 2017 With Winter League Victory
In their last competition of 2017 the Springstowne Wrestling Academy notched another Winter League Championship scoring 190 points to outpace the Napa Sheriff's Activities League who scored 90 points.
Leading the way were Winter League Individual Champions Kailea Ramos Wong, Emily Apilado, Reigne Ramos, Norianne Meim, Eryka Ferrer, Phamela Abesamis, Jacqueline Tran, Alina Pham, Erlen Sunga, Natalie Smith, Samantha Liu, Nicolai Delos Reyes, Alex Bonifacio, Thome Walters, Tyler Sheets-Dean and Michael Meneses.
This was the 17th time the Wildcats have won the Winter League Championships in the past 18 years.
Following the event the Wildcat 8th grade travel squad wrestlers put on a wrestling unit for the Hogan Middle School's Special Day Class For Students on the Autism Spectrum that culminated in a Gold Medal Championship for the students.

Academy Wrestlers Have A Successful Weekend
While most HMS students were still in bed with school off for Veteran's Day Weekend our Sprinsgtowne Wildcat Wrestling Academy took to the mats and brought home their 4th consecutive North Bay Invitational scoring 208 points vs Napa SAL(30) and Wan Tu Wazuri(20).

With one days rest our twenty-one Travel Squad Veterans got back to the grind and traveled to Sacramento on Sunday for the Spartan Race!!!

Wildcats Kickoff Season
Our Academy wrestlers entered HMS-Bass Gymnasium for the 1st time as a unit for our Intra-Squad Kickoff Scrimmage.
In a special ceremony Jessica Mendoza, Mateo Tafoya, Alexander Bonifacio and Natalie Smith received medals for being our top Lift-A-Thon performers. In wrestling action some great performances were put in by DJ Avelino and Cherie Luu who scored the fastest pins of the day. Avelino notched a :34 second pin, while Luu dispatched her opponnent in :23 seconds. |
13th Annual Wildcat Wrestling Alumni Clinic
19 alumni returned to volunteer as clinicians at the 13th Annual Springstowne Wildcat Wrestling Academy Wrestling Clinic. The contingent came from schools such as Bethel HS, St. Patricks, and Justin-Siena High School to coach over 30 current Academy Wrestlers. Shelly Avelino, who will compete for Menlo College, was also in attendance.
The clinic culminated with a Takedown Tournament where medals were won by

Excitement Abounds At Kickoff Potluck
Scores of Wildcat Wrestlers, family and alumni were on hand for our 12th Annual Festival of Nations Kickoff Potluck. Our 8th grade veterans were excited to learn that our Lady Wildcats will be traveling to South Carolina for the Wrestle4Hope All-American Girls Classic in March, while our Wildcat Boys will be headed to North Carolina for the AAU Southern Championships.

The K-5th grade camp is facilitated by the wrestling staff and current and alumni wrestlers of the Springstowne Wildcat Wrestling Academy.
