"Best Middle School Girls Team in The Country"-
USGWA President Kent Bailo
In recent years the sport of women’s wrestling has boomed. In 2004 women competed in the Olympics for the 1st time, with two of our American women winning Olympic Medals. This acceptance of women into wrestling has opened many doors that were once closed. College Women’s Wrestling is now offered with many new found scholarship opportunities.
This growth has been seen at Springstowne from in 1998 when there were no girls on the team to 2013 when we had an all-time high of 82 girls. From 2006-2013 and again in 2015 our team won the California Girls Middle School State Championship. Both the State Senate and State Assembly have honored our girls for their achievements at the State Capitol in Sacramento. Twice Vallejo Mayor Osby Davis has awarded the Lady Wildcats the "Mayor's Positive Image Award."
Our team is considered by the United States Girl’s Wrestling Association to be the largest K-12 team in the USA. They are recognized on a National stage and have competed well outside of California in states such as Hawaii, Montana, Michigan, Massachusetts, Oklahoma, Kentucky, Tennessee and Wisconsin, Maine, Vermont, Washington, New York, Ohio, Maryland, Arkansas, New Mexico, South Carolina and New Jersey
Our staff has been honored to be part of the rise of women's wrestling.
